The Wait Lengthens

Well, the dossier getting returned to the US during the CCAA's move is apparently going to cost us more than a week or so. In tracking other people's Travel Advisories (TA), and in speaking with my adoption coordinator who agrees with my analysis, it looks like I won't be getting the TA until November or even possibly December. The CCAA seems to have slowed down quite a bit over the last few months, and they are just now processing people with late May/early June LIDs. Since my LID is in August, I've got a bit of a wait left.

There is simply no way I'm going to be able to sit around for the space of an entire semester and twiddle my thumbs, waiting to see what's in the mailbox each day. I will go stark raving mad. So, in an effort to preserve my sanity (and out of a feeling of envy, watching my son head off for his first day of college), I headed over to one of the local community colleges and signed up for a class this semester. It's sign language level 1, so if the TA actually does come in and I get to travel earlier than December, I should be able to catch up easily (since I already sign) as long as I time it so I don't miss any major exams.

Of course, now that I've paid out $600+ for a class, that practically guarantees the TA will miraculously arrive within the next 2 weeks just to mess us up, right?

At least it's an easy class. It's been a long time since I've had an easy one.

A Letter from China!

I have an unnamed source now. When I woke up this morning, there was a letter from Xiao Tian waiting for me on my e-mail. I sat and cried my eyes out from sheer delight! I think I've read this 100 times already today and memorized every word. Y'know, most adoptive parents would kill to be able to get a letter like this during The Wait.

A Letter to Mom
Dear Mom,
How are you? I am Xu Xiao Tian. I got the birthday cake you sent to me, also the card, I am so happy. Even I cannot see you now, I believe I will see you soon. I am in China now, but my heart is already in US, to be with you. Thank you, mom!
May you healthy!
Best wishes!
Xu Xiao TianI am very happy that mom can come.
By the way, can you give me your telphone number?
